PASSPORT Program

The Ohio PASSPORT Medicaid program is a long-term care option designed to help elderly individuals maintain independence and receive necessary services in their own homes rather than in a nursing facility.
PASSPORT offers a range of services such as personal care, homemaking, transportation, and nursing care, tailored to meet the specific needs of each participant. Individual Options (I/O) Program

The Ohio Individual Options (I/O) Medicaid program provides individuals with developmental disabilities the opportunity to receive home and community-based services, allowing them to live independently or with family rather than in institutional settings.
This program offers a variety of support services tailored to the unique needs of each participant, including personal care, respite care, transportation, and specialized medical equipment. Family HHA/CNA Ohio Program

Home Health Aide (HHA) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) programs enable caregivers to undergo training and certification, qualifying them to provide professional care to their loved ones.
Through Medicaid, caregivers can receive compensation for their services, ensuring they are adequately trained and financially supported while caring for family members in need.
These programs not only alleviate financial strain on caregivers but also ensure that care recipients receive high-quality, personalized care from individuals with formal training and expertise.

We work with Ohio Family and Social Services and families to assist elderly and disabled individuals in obtaining Medicaid or Medicaid Waivers. You can receive payment through Paid Care and Ohio’s Passport Program or Individual Options Waiver.

Who Is Eligible?
1. Live in Ohio
You must live in the State of Ohio.
2. Live Near or With Your Caregiver
For the PASSPORT program, your caregiver has to live in the same house or apartment as you. For Individual Options Waiver, parents or families also need to live with their caregiver.
3. Have Medicaid and Get on a Waiver
Qualify for Medicaid or already have Medicaid and meet the financial and asset requirements for the Individual Options Waiver (I/O) or PASSPORT Waiver in Ohio. Our Paid.care team can help get qualified through your local area agencies on aging!

In Ohio, here’a a few ways to determine eligiblity as a paid family caregiver:
18 year or older
Medicaid-eligible with an intellectual/developmental disability or have nursing home level of care
Enrolled in an Individual Options or I/O Waiver or PASSPORT Waiver
Needs assistance with daily activities like getting dressed or eating

If you have Medicaid, training and support is covered by Paid.care and is at no cost to you or your loved one. Select Medicare and Mediaid plans cover the cost of Paid.care training and support for their members. Our program allows families to live a healthy and happy life in their own homes.
In Ohio, anyone with Medicaid or eligible for a Medicaid Waiver (that could be you) qualifies to receive payment.

In Ohio, we pay family caregivers that are a part of the PASSPORT Program $17 per hour on top of a $500 sign on bonus broken up over your first year as a caregiver — ensuring financial stability and advocating for competitive wages.
